Kostas Papaevangelou
Mr. Kostas Papaevangelou is a Hellenic Army retired officer with a brilliant career as an Army Aviation pilot with a number of significant professional skills and flight experience ranging from fixed-wing aircrafts to helicopters and UAVs.
He joined the Army Aviation School in 1990 after a series of rigorous entry tests and examinations graduating successfully as a Helicopter Pilot. He served for many years as a helicopter crew member at 2nd Army Aviation Battalion launching complex flight missions like VIP flights, medical evacuations, sling-load and firefighting operations, both day and night.
Apart from his active role as a helicopter pilot, he performed excellent liaison duties serving at the Army Aviation Directorate of the Hellenic Army General Staff and the Joint Operational Center coordinating emergency flights of Army Aviation Battalions within the national territories. After his retirement he worked in the private sector as flight operations coordinator during helicopter firefighting missions on behalf of Ericsson Air Crane and attended seminars of the Air Accidents Investigation and Safety Board about flight safety policies and compliance to regulations.
His commitment to aviation qualities in general along with his growing interest for UAVs and drones led to his appointment as WUAVF Hellas UAV Operations Supervisor with the task to plan, supervise and assess all UAV flights of the organization making recommendations to the Board of Directors and promoting the Flight Safety culture to all drone industry pilots and enthusiasts.
